What’s Nearby

The city of Corona was originally founded as South Riverside in 1886, during the California “citrus boom.” Corona gained its current name in 1896; the name is derived from the city’s circular Grand Boulevard, which has also led to the city’s nickname of “The Circle City.” The city serves as the only major pass through the Santa Ana Mountains, a 61-mile mountain range situated between Orange County and Riverside County.

Today, Corona has a population of 158,391 and is known as the “Gateway to the Inland Empire.” Corona is now considered a major suburb of Los Angeles and contains a number of historical markers, including Butterfield Stage Station, Painted Rock, and the Serrano Tanning Vats.
